Why Reading Explorers?

A national study released in April of 2011, shows that students who do not read proficiently by the third grade are four times more likely to leave high school without a diploma than proficient readers. And, with new Oklahoma legislation requiring third-grade students to pass the state reading exam in order to advance to the next grade, the need to help struggling readers is greater than ever.

How We’re Helping

A group of committed organizations is making a difference with programs to help students be better readers:

• Our Summer Reading Program helps combat summer learning loss with a 6-week, full-day Summer Reading Camp.
• Our Reading Coaches Program gives students focused attention during the school day, helping to advance their reading skills.
